Co-Founder & Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Sundaura Lithman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and longtime advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and trans-affirming healthcare. She takes a holistic approach to psychotherapy and holds the belief that by healing our wounds we can reclaim our innate gifts and inner wisdom. Through her experience facilitating trauma-recovery work, Sundaura has seen firsthand that as we heal and live with more wholeness ourselves, we gain the capacity to help our communities, families, and the world around us heal as well.

As a transgender queer woman, Sundaura's identities and lived experience intertwine with her values as a mental health practitioner. One of her main goals as a social worker has been to make non-pathologizing, client-centered, mental healthcare accessible to individuals and communities that have been harmed by cultural and systemic marginalization. Sundaura’s dedication to the principles of equity and liberation, combined with her passion for facilitating deep internal personal work, drew her to the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapeutic model. This model welcomes all parts of the psyche and honors the many strategies people develop to survive and cope with life’s challenges while it offers new pathways to heal wounds and release old burdens. By facilitating the IFS process, Sundaura has seen many clients gain increased compassion for themselves and others and gain access to the courage and clarity necessary to live more fulfilling and connected lives. Sundaura has completed extensive training with the IFS Institute and has experience working with issues including depression and anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, addictions and eating disorders, chronic pain, issues related to gender and sexuality, spirituality, psychedelic integration, and neurodiversity. She has also facilitated numerous groups, workshops, and assisted in foundational IFS trainings for therapists who identify as Queer, Trans, or BIPOC.

Sundaura earned both a Bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Portland State University. She has over 7 years of clinical experience in community-based, residential, and private practice settings.  She has worked with numerous local organizations including New Avenues for Youth, SMYRC (Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Resource Center), Morrison Child & Family Services, and Quest Center for Integrative Health. At Quest Center she deepened her understanding of the body/mind connection and the importance of integrative mental and physical health care, and met colleague, and Redwood Collaborative co-founder, Lusijah Marx.

Sundaura is excited to co-create the Redwood Collaborative and will continue her work to expand access to care, and involvement in community for all. She is currently focused on offering consultation, supervision, and support to other mental health professionals who are learning or utilizing the IFS model. She is also excited to increase her involvement in the innovative field of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy as it develops in Oregon.
